Big tour on the Danube cycle path
11 days / 10 nights with return transfer from 919 €
The Tour

Obviously, you can cycle the length of the Danube in 4 days, but isn’t it much nicer if you take your time to explore it? Have you ever looked down from the Pöstlingberg or Maria Taferl mountains instead of looking up to them? Have you ever let yourself drift in the Lentos or Tulln Gardens; gone swimming in Europe’s largest river or for a walk down the Stillenbachklamm - or just lounged around the Jausenstation? On this big tour along the Danube cycle path you will have enough time for all these leisurely activities.

Day 1 Arrival in Schärding
Discover the lovely baroque town on the river Inn and and sample the excellent beers.
Day 2 Schärding - Passau, approx. 20 km/12 mi
There’s enough time to explore Passau’s historic centre and go on a three-river boat trip. Ascending to the Veste Oberhaus fortress is highly rewarding.
Day 3 Passau - Schlögen region, approx, 40 km/25 mi
Why not visit Engelszell Monastery, or enjoy the plentiful nature around the Schlögener Schlinge.
Day 4 Schlögen region - Linz, approx. 50 km/31 mi
In Wilhering, you will find another historically significant monastery, after which Europe’s former cultural capital, with its magnificent mixture of baroque and modern influences, awaits.
Day 5 Linz - Enns region, approx. 30 km/19 mi
Either go on a shopping tour through Linz, or hop straight onto your bike. In Enns, you can open the gates to the city tower with a 2-Euro piece.
Day 6 Enns region - Grein, approx. 40 km/25 mi
The vast landscape of the Machlande allows for swift cycling. The celtic village of Mitterkirchen is well worth a visit.
Day 7 Grein - Melk, approx. 55 km/34 mi
The Strudengau and Nibelungengau regions shape the wild and romantic backdrop for the Danube, which wasn’t completely harmless in days gone by.
Day 8 Melk - Krems, approx. 35 km/22 mi
First, you will find the Stift Melk monastery, followed by the charming Wachau region, providing you with countless opportunities to sample wine, schnapps and jam.
Day 9 Krems - Tulln, approx. 40 km/25 mi
On your ride to Tulln, you will pass through vast alluvial forests before reaching the old Roman town with several sights.
Day 10 Tulln - Vienna, approx. 40 km/25 mi
Later, the path will take you through the Vienna Woods. Klosterneuburg is well worth a visit before reaching the metropolis of Vienna.
Day 11 Departure or extension
Your tour ends after breakfast. Why not extend your big tour on the Danube cycle path?
